Lois M. (Shultis) Davis
Lois Marie Shultis Davis of Andes, NY and Murrells Inlet, SC, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2023, at the age of 92, with her son Bill by her side.
Lois was born January 5, 1931 on Upper Dingle Hill in Andes, NY to Leland Clare and Inez Edwards Shultis. She graduated from SUNY Oneonta in 1951 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education and was an elementary school teacher in Schoharie, NY for 30 years.
She married James “Jim” Robert Davis of Andes, NY in July of 1952. They enjoyed 58 wonderful years of marriage, traveled the world and made a lifetime of memories before Jim passed in 2011. She gave birth to William “Bill” Clare Davis in 1953, their beloved son.
Lois is survived by her brother, Leland Charles Shultis. She was preceded in death by her brothers Leonard, Lynn and Francis Shultis and her sister Evelyn Burnett.
She will be greatly missed by her son, Bill Davis; her grandchildren Jonathan Davis (Kristen), Delisa Reavis (Louis), and James “Jimmy” Davis (Meredith); her 17-year-old toy poodle Buddy; and her three great-grandchildren. Everyone who knew her will remember and miss her contagious laugh, love of dogs, democrats, a strong manhattan, and fierce devotion to her family. She was a talented painter, a highly competitive pinochle player and a crossword puzzle devotee. If you were lucky enough to enjoy her apple pie or sticky buns, you were lucky enough.
The family will hold a memorial service in Andes at the Andes Presbyterian Church at 11am on July 13, 2023. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Andes Presbyterian Church in Andes, NY.
