Henry G. Koch

Henry G Koch of Homestead Village, Lancaster PA passed away Sunday April 17 in his home at the age of 95. 

Mr. Koch was born in 1926 in Queens, NY.  He was an Eagle Scout in New York City Boy Scout Troop 1. 

He was in the US Navy from 1944 to 1946 being trained as a sonar technician. 

He went to Cornell University on the GI Bill and graduated in 1950 with a BS in Electrical Engineering and was inducted into the engineering honorary society Tau Beta Pi.  While in college he was on the crew team and was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity. 

He married Margaret Schuster of Roxbury, NY who he met at Cornell in 1950. 

He worked for Public Service Electric and Gas in the electrical distribution division for 42 years.  He was a long time resident of Livingston, NJ.  He was a volunteer with the Livingston YMCA and was chairman of the building committee when the Livingston YMCA facility was built.  He was a leader in the Boy Scouts eventually becoming the Scout Master of Livingston Troop 23. 

He retired and moved to Fort Myers FL where he sailed his Catalina 22 almost daily.  He spent summers in Roxbury NY on his wife’s family farm.  He eventually moved to Homestead Village . He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing, hunting and sailing throughout his life.   

He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret last August.  He is survived by his son, Donald, of Ellicott City MD, his daughter Linda, of Raleigh NC, his granddaughter, Elizabeth of Oxon Hill, MD, his granddaughter, Catherine of Sykesville, MD, his granddaughter, Virginia of Winston-Salem, NC, his grandson, Alexander of Raleigh, NC, his grandson, Matthew, of Denver, Colorado, his great grandsons, Henry and Samuel.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday April 26, 2022 at Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury, NY from 7pm-9pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday April 27, 2022 at 10am at the Gould Church in Roxbury with Rev. Dykstra officiating. Burial will follow in the Roxbury Cemetery.
