Frances A. Faulkner
Frances A. Faulkner, 91, of New Kingston, passed away peacefully at Mountainside Residential Care Center on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Fran was born February 21, 1930 in Tenafly, New Jersey, the daughter of B. Alan and Laura Mayhew. During her teenage years, Fran was introduced to New Kingston during summer vacations while visiting relatives in the hamlet where her mother Laura (Sanford) Mayhew was born and raised. During those summers, she worked at the New Kingston General Store, where she met her future husband Douglas Faulkner who also worked at the store. (Jersey Girl meets County Farm Boy and the rest was history!). She married Doug on September 10, 1949 in Tenafly, NJ.
Shortly after marriage, Fran and Doug purchased the general store where they served a dual role in operating the store as well as the New Kingston Post Office. Fran will always be remembered as a loving, caring, and supportive mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Fran was predeceased by her husband Doug in 2002 and her sister Betty Pregger in 2007.
Surviving are her children June Faulkner of New Kingston, Lee Faulkner of Royersburg, PA, Glen Faulkner (Elaine) of New Kingston, grandchildren Calli Hoffman (Larry) of Florida, Brian Faulkner of Florida, Erica Hoerz (Adam) of Middleburgh, great-granddaughter Nikki Hoffman, sister Sandy Holsten (Richard) of Landensburg PA, along with numerous extended family members.
A memorial service for Fran will be held on Friday, September 10th at 4pm at the New Kingston Presbyterian Church, Pastor Shirley Davis officiating. A celebration of her life will follow at the Margaretville Telephone Company Community Room at 61 Academy Street in Margaretville.
