Ernest “Ernie” Maderi

Ernest Francis Joseph Maderi died peacefully in his sleep July 9, 2023, aged 68, in Grand Gorge, NY. He is survived by his beloved grandchildren, William Maderi, Zoey Costa, and Joseph Costa, along with family members Barbara Maderi, Elizabeth Maderi, Katherine Costa and Katherine’s husband, Joseph Costa.

Ernest, or “Ernie”, was born in Bronx, New York January 10th, 1955. He was a devoted son to Genieve Maderi, and Francis Maderi. He was the second child of seven children, the eldest son. Over the course of his life, Ernie was a talented home remodeler and worked in various locations and projects within New York. Within the past 18 months, he settled in Grand Gorge, NY. There he enjoyed the beauty of the mountains and waterfalls, and newfound friendships. His family is grateful his last year was filled with friendship, adventure, and promise.

While Ernie enjoyed the outdoors he could also typically be found tinkering with some appliance or another. He loved movies and was an avid journal writer. Above all though, his ultimate joy and pride were his three grandchildren. He was a devoted grandpa and loved his unique experiences with each grandchild, whether it be going out with Will to the farm stands, building Legos with Joey, or enjoying all the singing/dancing a talented Zoey could do. He loved his family greatly.

A private memorial for Grandpa Ernie will be held by his family, at a later date.
