Leland E. “Sonny” Johnson Jr.
“Sonny” of Arkville, was the son of Leland E. Johnson Sr. and Marjorie (Persons). He was a jack of all trades but really enjoyed mason work building stonewalls all over the area, this in turn earned him the nickname “Stoneman”. He passed this trade onto his son Leland (3rd), known to most as “Corky”. They built many stonewalls together. Earlier in life he drove cement trucks for Wadler Brothers and Slavins Ready Mix.
He enjoyed meeting people, talking to them and and seeing the areas he was driving trucks to. In later years, he found making crafts of plywood and painting them to give them away. A hobby he loved. It became fulfilling to him to make things for others.
He was a volunteer for the Fleischmanns Fire Department during the 60’s and 70's.
He is survived by his sister, Nancy Johnson, his son Corky and wife Lisa, daughter Christina DuBois and grandson Alex, niece Darlene Bouton-Sweet and Rachele Boland. He is also survived by grandchildren Dakota, Cheyenne, Steven and Donna-Jo and great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, girlfriend of many years, a son, his sisters and great grand children.
