Thomas “Tom” Filupeit

Thomas “Tom” Filupeit, Sr., 67, died on December 13, 2023 surrounded by family. Tom is survived by his mother, Hazel, three children, Marisa, Krista, and Thomas Jr., grandson, Ryan, and mother of his children, LuAnn. He is also survived by his brother Tim (Cindy), many beloved nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Tom was predeceased by his father, Arthur.

A lifelong resident of Margaretville, Tom graduated from Margaretville Central School and served the community he loved for many years. He was a former Village of Margaretville Board Trustee and spent more than 25 years as a volunteer fireman with the Margaretville Fire Department. Tom was always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors, especially with their cars, but could never resist teasing those he loved.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Hynes Funeral Home, A gathering will be held at the Margaretville Fire Hall following visitation on Monday.

Burial will be Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at 10:30am at Margaretville Cemetery Annex.
