Daniel W. Pickett
Adored and loved Husband, father, and friend:
Daniel W Pickett passed away at his home on December 4, 2023. Born in Stamford, NY to the late Richard and Julia Pickett (Parys) on May 22, 1959.
Danny graduated Grand Gorge Central School in 1977 and continued his education in Business at SUNY Cobleskill and graduated in 1979. Immediately following his graduation, he went from part time to full time employment at Hunter Mountain, where he happily worked for forty plus years. While there he wore many hats from ticket seller/manager, finance, events manager, and more, supporting everyone he worked with in all aspects of the resort that he was so passionate about.
Despite the long hours worked he found time to be part of the Grand Gorge Gang racing network working alongside his dear friend Wink on his race car and attending races with Wink and Karen for many years as part of that team and so many other friends in the community doing the same thing.
He played softball for many years, pitching was what he loved to do, avid sports card collector alongside his brother, bowler on several teams with many friends, and in later years never missed sporting events for his two sons.
In 1981 he joined the Grand Gorge Fire Department proudly serving this department and community as a member, secretary and commissioner.
Danny gave everything to everyone, but was most proud of his children, who follow in his footsteps to serve others, one who served in the United States Marine Corp and the other as an active member of the Grand Gorge Fire Dept.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years Kimberly, sons James and Brady who all feel that Danny always put them first and will remember his strength, smile, and his never ending love and support.
He is also survived by his brother David and sister in law Heidi, his Uncle Wayne and Aunt Christine Pickett, Aunt Mary Orlowski and Uncle Charles Parys, mother and father in law Kay and Daryl Van Valkenburgh, sister and brother in law (Jessica and Daryl), 3 nephews and 3 nieces, several generations of cousins and his unscalable amount of friends.
Services for Danny will be held at the Colonels Hall at Hunter Mountain, 1:30pm on Sunday December 10th. All family and friends are welcome to attend.
