Marilyn McCracken

Marilyn McCracken passed away November 20, 2024. She was born on June 22, 1948 in Catskill, NY , her parents Daisy (Pearl) Soule and Merlin (Barney) Van Etten. She married Robert McCracken on June 25, 1972. Marilyn devoted her life to taking care of other people. She graduated from the Albany school of nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse for the majority of her career at Stamford Hospital until it closed, Margaretville Memorial Hospital and even served as the Director of Nursing for a time in Robinson Terrace nursing home. Even after retirement, Marilyn spent her time taking care of, and checking in on, all of her family and friends. She loved to drive around with her beloved dog Charlie and made her nightly rounds to all her favorite food joints and absolutely had to stop at Stewarts for lotto tickets and ice cream. Marilyn loved her grandchildren more than anything and was very proud of all of their accomplishments.

She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

Marilyn is survived by her husband Robert; her children James and his wife Tamra, Joseph, and step-daughter Patricia McCracken-Little, her partner Mark Finne along with her children Seth and Levi; grandchildren Logan, Ailee, Declan, and Harley; siblings JoEllen Schermerhorn, Leslie Van Etten, Steven Van Etten; sister in-law Linda Van Etten, her Aunt Dot Giordano, and nieces Jill, Amanda, and Amy: and her favorite neighbor Melony Lee. Marilyn is predeceased in death by her brother Charles Van Etten.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday December 1, 2024 from 5pm-7pm at Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart of the Catskills Humane Society can be made in Marilyn’s name.
