Helen L. Lewis

Helen was born November 27, 1927 in Hamden, NY. She was predeceased by her parents Eldred and Florence Shaver and her husband William A. Lewis. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra Simpson (Robert) and Patricia Sawyer (Jerry). Helen is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and her partner of 35 years, Lou Snyder.

Helen was a businesswoman running her own therapeutic massage practice. She was very active in her community, serving in Planned Parenthood, Chairperson for Delaware Opportunities and serving on the town board. Service to her community was her mainstay.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 from 11am-12pm at Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville, NY. Her funeral service will be held following the close of visitation and burial will follow at the Shavertown Cemetery, Andes, NY.

At the family request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen’s memory to Delaware Opportunities, Hamden, NY.
