Daniel J. Carney

Daniel was born on September 10, 1931 in New York City. He passed away on April 2, 2023 as a result of Alzheimer’s Disease.

He attended New York City schools graduating from Bronx High School of Science, January 1949 and then attended Cornell. Dan worked for Johnson Control and was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union 543/21.

Dan enjoyed the outdoors and had a great sense of humor. He was a creator of innovative items.

Dan was the son of Daniel M. and Lillian (Durrenberger) Carney. He is survived by his wife, Rita (Keller), daughter Susan L. Carney, Robert Wenger, and son Daniel C. and Leslie Carney, his sister Lillian Carney, and his nephew Paul Wozarik. Survivors also include his grandchildren Julia Tiessen, David Ziff, , Shannon Carney, Michael Winters, Daniel Thomas Carney and Kaitlin Phillips ; great grandchildren, Roman Ziff and Katherine Winters. He was predeceased by his grandson Jakob C. Tiessen.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday May 17, 2023 at Hynes Funeral Home from 4-6pm. Burial will be Thursday May 18th at 11am at the Andes Cemetery, Andes, NY.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in his memory can be made to the Andes Ambulance Squad, The Alzheimers Association, or Macular Degeneration
