Constance E. “Connie” Cuttita
Constance Elizabeth Cuttita (Connie) of Roxbury, NY, passed away peacefully at age 77 on Tuesday, November 29th, 2022. She was born on October 22, 1945, in Queens, NY to Mildred (nee Gelke) and Clyde Snyder. Connie grew up in Richmond Hill, NY and graduated from The Mary Louis Academy in 1963. In 1966 she graduated from Bellevue Hospital’s School of Nursing and began her career as a Registered Nurse at Bellevue and Lenox Hill Hospitals. She also worked for renowned dermatologist Robert Berger in Manhattan for 11 years.
In 1975, Connie married her beloved husband Jim Cuttita in Forest Hills, NY. In 1984, they relocated to Roxbury to raise their daughters Elizabeth Alexander (Tabari) and Susan Cuttita Lawson (Christopher) in a house they built with the help of many family members and friends. Connie was an integral part of the Roxbury community, especially at Roxbury Central School, where for many years she volunteered her time with the PTA, Booster Club and as a Room Parent. She was an active member of the Sacred Heart Women’s Society in Margaretville, NY, where they would hold many charitable events for local communities.
Connie’s greatest joy in life was being a grandmother to her six energetic grandchildren, Jimmy, Andrew, Danny, Patrick, Cameron and Gabby. She loved hosting “Camp Grandma” every summer and made sure she attended every special event or occasion for each grandchild, no matter how far she had to travel.
The highlight of Connie’s year was always hosting the Thanksgiving Feast with her entire family, including her sister and brother-in-law Kathy and Kevin Ward, nieces, nephew, great-nieces and great-nephews. The family especially looked forward to her homemade stuffing and Ice-Cream Jell-O dessert, topped with her famous whipped cream.
Connie was the epitome of a selfless and loving woman, setting a beautiful example for all who knew and loved her. She will be greatly missed by all.
