Christine S. Schaefer

Christine S Schaefer, of Roxbury NY left our midst November 19, 2022 at 90 years of age, beloved wife of the late Donald R. Schaefer, elder sister to (the late) Frank, Robert, Ronald and James Tauss. Christine attended Bishop McDonnell Donald Memorial High School in Brooklyn, studied nursing at Flower Fifth Avenue Hospital Nursing School and was awarded an RN license. She later attended St Joseph College on Long Island for enhanced nursing practices and maintained her professional license as a Registered Nurse for her entire life. She worked in the preemie nursery at Meadowbrook Hospital in East Meadow NY and for many years as a home visiting nurse at Little Flower Children and Family Services in Wading River NY, supporting children in foster care settings. Christine and Donald moved from Wading River to their retirement home in Roxbury NY in ??. They also enjoyed a winter home in Port St Lucie, Florida for many years. Christine enjoyed her volunteer involvement with Core Values in Stamford until her last day. Christine was a devoted Catholic and attended services faithfully for her entire life. She participated in Faith Formation programs in the Roxbury area for many years. Christine will be remembered fondly by her brothers, her nieces and nephews and many people on Long Island, Florida and the Roxbury area whose lives she touched for so many years.
