Theodore Kochersberger Sr.
Theodore Kochersberger Sr., 92, passed away peacefully at A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta after a short battle with cancer on Monday, August 14, 2023, with his family by his side. He was born in Jamaica Hospital, Queens, NY on December 17, 1930. He is predeceased by his parents Edward Barry and Grace Kochersberger and his oldest son Edward.
Teddy worked as a union carpenter in Queens, NY and moved upstate in the early 1970s and worked construction and property management for Shuman Farms in Bovina, NY. He was a member of the Andes Volunteer Fire Department and member of the Tremperskill Rod and Gun Club and a proud member of the National Rifle Association.
He enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life including hunting, fishing, other outdoor activities; and he was an avid racing fan. Most importantly he loved spending time with his family and friends. He was known in the area for his daily morning walks along the reservoir road.
He leaves behind his wife, Phyllis, of 34 years; his daughter Linda (Allen), daughter-in-law Annie, son Theodore, Jr. (Karen), son Ernest Jr. (Stacy), son Jonathan (Hannah), daughter Kathryn (Matt), daughter Stacey (Paul), and daughter Crystal (John); his grandchildren Robert, Edward Theodore, Alisan, Kaleb, Kelsey, Alexis, Aubrie, Owen, Jacob, Jayden, Ash, Ryan and Haylee; and great-grandchildren Katie, Kaci, Audrey, Ronan and Dustin Theodore.
A private service will be held at a later date. Anyone wishing to make a donation in memory of Ted may do so to the wonderful Andes Fire Department Emergency Squad. Their care for him was above and beyond the best quality and his family will forever be grateful.
The family would also like to acknowledge the professional and compassionate care provided by the staff of A.O. Fox Hospital during their stay there.
