Joseph P. Caragine Jr.

Joseph P. Caragine Jr. passed away on July  3rd, 2024 at the age of 81 with members of his loving family at his side.  Joe was born on November 6th, 1942 in Yonkers, NY to Angelina and Joseph Caragine. He graduated from Saunders Trades & Technical High School in Yonkers, NY.

     Joe proudly served in the National Guard as well as The United States Army. He began his career as a master carpenter ultimately working as Director of Building and Grounds at Pace University, until his well deserved retirement in 2000.   Through Joe's hard work, dedication and character he built the life he wanted in Roxbury, enjoying the outdoors, mountains and wonderful countryside. Joe was known for his commitment to help anyone in need, his love of nature, history, hunting and conversations with friends around the kitchen table.  Joe loved his travels with his wife Beryl to China, Italy, Venezuela, Great Britain, France and Brazil.  They enjoyed many RV camping trips across the US & Canada, spending time with family and friends. 

    Joe is survived by his loving wife Beryl, sister Rosemarie (Michael), brother Paul (Siobhan), his two children Christina (Nick) and Joseph J. and his four grandchildren Alyssa, Nicola, Giovanni, and Cristopher. He will be laid to rest in Roxbury cemetery - near his “happy place” in the country. His service will be held Tuesday, July 9th, at 12 noon at The Roxbury Cemetery NY-30, Roxbury, NY 12474.
