John T. “Jack” Cowan

John T. “Jack” Cowan, 89, of Margaretville, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Kingston Hospital.

Born on August 2, 1932 in Margaretville, the son of the late Robert B. and Beatrice (VandeBogart) Cowan of Weaver Hollow.

Jack graduated from Margaretville Central School in 1951.

His passion was farming and was active in FFA Activities while at MCS.  Following graduation, he proudly served in the US Army and was stationed in Uijeongbu, South Korea, where he spent 16 months as a Military Policeman, he was honorably discharged in 1956.

Jack purchased a dairy farm on Roses Brook in Hobart, NY and spent the rest of his life there doing what he loved best.

Besides his parents, Jack was predeceased by his sisters: Margorie Slade, Doris Sanford and Laura Smith; and brothers: Herbert and Ralph Cowan.

Jack is survived by his brother: Richard Cowan; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends and relatives are invited to call from 11AM-1PM on Sunday, April 10, 2022 at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville, where a service will be held at 1PM. Burial with military honors will follow at Andes Cemetery.
