John F. McMurray

John McMurray, 96 of Margaretville passed away May 26, 2022 at home. He was born October 27, 1925 in Margaretville, the son of Robert McMurray and Emma Freer. He was married August 29, 1948 to Lois Vermilyea in New Kingston at the Presbyterian Church. John was a self-employed carpenter and had lived in Margaretville all his life. He enjoyed hunting, animals and the outdoors. He also enjoyed making maple syrup and beekeeping.

John is survived by his daughters Jean Ackerley and Karen McMurray of Margaretville; grandsons Shane Ackerley of Gilboa, NY; David (Robin) Ackerley of Van Etten, NY; and Robert (Nomie) Ackerley of Orange City, FL. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren; several great-great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Burial and graveside committal services will be held at a later date in the Sanford Cemetery, Margaretville, NY.
