George T. Gotimer Jr.

 

                                         

                               November 21, 1930 – September 19, 2022 

          George T. Gotimer, Jr., of Margaretville, NY, passed away Monday,

     September 19th, 2022, at the Golden Hill Health Care Facility in Kingston,

     NY, after a brief illness.

          He was born on November 21, 1930, in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, the third

     son of the late George T. Gotimer, Sr., and Marion (McGinnis) Gotimer,

     and also pre-deceased by his five siblings:  Sister Maryeugene Gotimer,

     S.C., Thomas F. Gotimer,  Jeanne P. Buchanan, Marion E. Dupper, and Rev.

    Msgr. James E. Gotimer.

          George was a graduate of Fort Hamilton High School.  He, along with

     his father, brother Tom, and brother-in-law Melvin, worked for many

     years in the Money Room of the Mutuel Department of the New York

     Racing Association race tracks at Belmont Park, Aqueduct, and Saratoga

     Race Course.

          George also served in both the United States Marine Corps Reserves,

     and, for more than thirty years, in the U. S. Navy Seabees RNMCB 13/

     NRTC 53, Brooklyn, NY, advancing to the rank of First Class Petty

     Officer/CM-1, Construction Mechanic First Class.

           George also worked as an auto mechanic in several gas stations,

     his own repair shop, and at home on 78th Street.  He was a long-time

     attendee of the Margaretville Senior Meals Program.

          George is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces,

     and grand-nephews.  Per George's wishes, there will be no formal

     service.  In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to be sent to

     Senior Meals on Wheels, Margaretville chapter.  Condolences can be
