Ernst L. Bilzer

Ernst L. Bilzer, 100, of Arkville passed away peacefully on January 27, 2025.

He was born in Mainz, Germany in 1925. During WW11 he served in the military as a paratrooper.  After the war he came to the US and became a citizen and met his beautiful wife Regina.

They were the proprietors of the Bavarian Fireside Restaurant from 1960-1994 where they took pleasure of serving fine German cuisine.

Ernst had many hobbies and talents including fine metal work, blacksmith, restoring old guns, Leatherwood and especially enjoyed antiques and ginseng hunting. 

He is survived by his son Ernst Bilzer and several nieces and nephews in Germany. 

A memorial service for Ernst will be held Saturday February 8, 2025 at Hynes Funeral Home in Margaretville, NY from 2pm- 4pm.

A celebration of Ernst's life will be at a later date in the spring.
