Emily Ann Gray
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Emily Ann Gray, age 82, of Roxbury, NY. Emily passed away at her home on March 8, 2025.
Born on April 20, 1942, Emily was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was predeceased by: her beloved husband, Andrew Gray, Jr., Her son Edward Gray, Grandson Bryce Cole, Sister Nancy Mead, Brother Ralph Mead and parent’s Bob and Hazel Mead. Emily is survived by her children, Joanne (Bill) Deleel, Steve Gray, Doug (Sue) Gray, and Juanita (Mike) Cole and brother Gordy Mead. She leaves behind a proud legacy of grandchildren, including Eric Deleel, Dusty (Kayla) Deleel, Ryan (Kelsey) Deleel, Jennifer (Stephanie) Gray, Andrew Gray, Justin Gray, Matt (Stori) Gray, Joshua (Katie) Gray, Kaitlyn (T.J.) Bramblett, Courtney (Matt) Daum, Dakota Cole, Montanna (Conner) Cole, and Trenton Cole. Emily’s legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Luke and Arden Gray, Kailey and Aubree Gray, Andrew and Hunter Gray, Lilly, Max, Emma, Ty, and Abby Bramblett, and Ellie, Nora, and Zoe Daum.
Emily was born and raised in Roxbury, where she attended Roxbury Central School, graduating in the class of 1960. She married Andrew Gray, Jr., and together they shared a life of hard work and love. As a homemaker and farmer’s wife, Emily devoted her time and energy to her family and her home. Her love for gardening and caring for her beloved dogs brought her much joy, and she spent countless hours cultivating beauty in her surroundings.
Above all, Emily was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her unwavering love and commitment to her family were the heart of her life. She took great pride in watching her children and grandchildren grow and always made time to offer support, wisdom, and kindness.
A funeral service will be held in Emily’s honor on April 11th at 2:00 PM at the Jay Gould Memorial Reformed Church in Roxbury, NY. Interment will follow at the Roxbury UMC Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Emily’s memory to the Heart of the Catskills Humane Society. This respects Emily’s deep love for animals and the fact she supported their well-being throughout her life. Other donation options include: The Jay Gould Memorial Reformed Church and/or the Roxbury Fire Department. The family is appreciative of all the love and support given by both these organizations throughout Emily’s lifetime.
Emily will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
