Claude E. “Buddy” Pitt, Jr.

Claude E. “Buddy” Pitt, Jr., 62 of Margaretville, passed away late Sunday evening, August 18, 2024 at his home following a long battle with cancer and other health issues.

Born on April 23, 1962 in Cobleskill. He was the son of the late Claude E. and Elizabeth E. (Merwin) Pitt, Sr.

Buddy worked as a truck driver, along with several other jobs until illness forced his early retirement.

He was a former Firefighter with the Arkville Volunteer Fire Department.  Buddy enjoyed woodworking, joking and laughing with his friends and family; however, his greatest joy was caring for his family.

Besides his parents, He was predeceased by his siblings: Bonnie Bogart, Diane Rowe and Terry Pitt.

Buddy is survived by his companion of over 34 years: Debbie Fairbairn of Margaretville; children: Diane Fairbairn of Ohio and Brian Fairbairn of Indiana; grandchildren: Scarlett and Khloe; sister: Shirley Jones; brothers: Tim and David Pitt; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A calling hour will be held from 3-4PM on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville, where a service will follow at 4PM.  Burial will be held at 11AM on Monday, August 26, 2024 at Charlotteville Cemetery, 167 Baptist Church Road, Charlotteville, NY, where Buddy will be laid to rest next to his mother.
