Antonio “Anthony” “Tony” Piacquadio

Anthony Onofrio Piacquadio, 92, resident of Margaretville, died Monday, August 15, 2022 at Mountainside Residential Care Center where he lived since March 2020. He was born September 7, 1929 in Colle Sannita, Italy, the son of Francesco Piacquadio and Costanza Polcini.  Anthony married Maria Tedesco on June 16, 1952 in Italy. Anthony worked in construction in New York City after immigrating from Italy in 1953.  He and his wife moved to Margaretville in 1962.  For a time, he was a farmer on West Hubbell Hill Road.  Later he developed some of the land and built 21 houses on Piacquadio Road.

Anthony is survived by three daughters, Antoinetta and her husband, Paul Currie, Jr. Constance and her husband John Mathiesen, and Lilly Piacquadio. Four grandchildren, Rachel, Eric, Anthony and Alex, also survive.  He is survived by two sisters Assunta Basile from Niagara Falls, Canada, and Teresina Pilla, from Mahopac, New York.

Calling hours will be held at  Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville, on August 25, 2022 from 1 to 3 pm and 7 to 9 pm.  A funeral mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, Margaretville on Friday, August 26, 2022 at 11 am, Father Paul will officiate. Burial will follow in the Margaretville Annex Cemetery.
